The history of credit cards is rich. It goes back by over 135 years. The first product of its kind was introduced by Provident Clothing Group in the form of a voucher. And now there’s contactless credit cards, which not only prevent millions of more trees being chopped around the world, but also speed up transactions.
According to Sainsbury’s Bank, “the first credit cards [were] introduced in U.S. by oil companies and hotel chains”. And according to CreditCards.com, there are 1.8 billion Mastercard and Visa debit cards in the World.
